Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

Medieval Times Jousting

I had the good fortune to attend Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament on April 5, 2014 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Arundel Mills Mall in Maryland. I took my adult children and their significant others and what a fun evening we had. When we first walked in to the castle we received crowns for our heads and were greeted by the Princess and a photo-op.  We got there a little early and 2 people in my party decided to have a beer. I must warn you that prices are not visible anywhere for cocktails and although you receive a Medieval Times mug, 2 glasses of beer will run you about $42 and refills are $7.

After being seated and receiving a flag to cheer on your knight, a commemorative program, and your dinner menu printed on your napkin, you are instructed that your hands are your utensils. My husband was in heaven.  We started with a bowl of soup and bread, followed by 1/2 a baked chicken, a barbecue rib, potato, and to top it all off we had an apple turnover for dessert. Believe me, it was more than enough food and I wound up taking home a full chicken breast.

The show was wonderful and we were amused the whole time. There is a lot of audience participation and very handsome knights throwing flowers to the kids and the ladies. The horses were spectacular looking regal creatures and looked very well cared for. The jousting was exciting as well as hand to hand combat with barbaric looking weapons. Very entertaining. I must confess that one of the gentlemen in our party spoke in his best Medieval gaelic and wore his crown all the way home in the car all while waiving his flag at passing cars.

So, yes this is fun for all ages and I would definitely recommend seeing this show and having a satisfying dinner.
